New MacBook Pro owners would be well served to spend a few moments perusing this post to better understand Safari.
Safari makes it simple to block Internet advertisements
One of the biggest complaints people have about the Internet is the incessant onslaught of pop up advertisements. Safari makes it easy for users to block the majority of these advertisements. Here is how it is done:
1. Open the Safari menu
2. Check the Block Pop-up Windows
Safari makes it easy for users to create bookmarks
Bookmarks are extremely useful tools for computer users who frequently visit the same Sites. By creating bookmarks, which create shortcuts to these frequently visited Sites, users can save quite a bit of time. Safari makes it simple to create these bookmarks, and here is how.
1. Open the Site that you want to create a bookmark for
2. On the Safari toolbar, click on the “+” sign
3. A sheet will drop down, in which you can name the bookmark and place it in a folder to keep it organized
4. Once the bookmark is saved, you can simply click on the bookmark from the bookmark tab and it will immediately open up the Site.
Safari makes it easy for users to create dashboard widgets
Every MacBook has a dashboard that provides quick and easy access to whichever applications or locations are saved within the dashboard. Safari users can create dashboard widgets to help users keep tab on Sites that interest them. The example given on Apple’s Site is on creating a widget to keep tabs on the videos being watched on You Tube. Here is how this is done:
1. Visit You Tube in Safari.
2. From the Safari tool bar, click on the Web Clip button.
3. A clear box will appear on the screen. Position this box over the Videos being watched section, and click to hold it in place.
4. Resize the box using the prompts and handles that appear on the screen.
5. Click the Add button.
6. The widget box will appear in the dashboard, so users can quickly see what is being viewed on You Tube. This same process can be replicated with other Websites; it is not specific to You Tube.
These three strategies are just the beginning when it comes to getting the most out of Safari. MacBook Pro users find that Safari is extremely useful, and extremely intuitive. So in no time at all, even novice computer users are able to utilize Safari like a pro.
