It hasn’t been too long since the Apple iPhone prototype story dominated the news, and already another iPhone prototype story is making some waves in headlines. It seems as if the feud between Apple and Gizmodo fizzled away, which was likely to Apple’s delight, as the company wasn’t receiving the best press from the story. Media outlets from around the country were questioning why Apple was taking such an aggressive stance against the Internet news outlet, and allegations were even being tossed around comparing Apple to the Gestapo.
So needless to say, Apple must feel some sense of relief to be moving further away from that entire debacle. But now, however, another story is popping up about yet another iPhone prototype that has found its way on the Internet. Maybe this is the universe’s strange way of giving Apple another chance to handle a similar situation.
This time, the pictures of the alleged Apple iPhone popped up on a Vietnamese Website by the name of Taoviet. Of course, the location of the Site is all but irrelevant – the Internet is, after all, also called the World Wide Web, so regardless of where the Site is headquartered, its content will be sent all around the world. And from outward appearances, it seems as if the phone is another Apple iPhone prototype.
MacRumors ran a story on the iPhone prototype displayed on Taoviet’s Site, and they reported that a Vietnamese businessman who was here on business purchased the phone in the United States. Apparently, the businessman purchased the phone while purchasing an Apple iPad, but beyond that, the details are unclear. Another story on the Apple iPhone, which was run in Engadget, reported that the businessman paid more than $4,000 U.S. dollars for the prototype, which is about $1,000 less than the iPhone prototype that was sold to Gizmodo in California last month.
So what does all of this reveal to people who want to know more about the up and coming iPhone? With the iPhone that Gizmodo purchased, we were able to see pictures, but many questions remained to be unanswered. According to some stories that have been published about the second iPhone prototype to surface, we are informed that it carries a very powerful chip.
On the Site iFixit, a story ran that noted the prototype contains the Apple A4. The Apple A4 is the very same chip contained in Apple’s iPad, which has become well respected for not only its speed, but also its energy efficiency. And that the A4 can retain speed and efficiency on something as large as the iPad is quite impressive. One can only imagine how the A4 chip would perform on an iPhone. Of course, even if iFixit is correct, and the pictures did indeed reveal the A4 chip, we cannot be certain whether the chip will make it from the prototype to the model that eventually becomes available to consumers. If the A4 chip does make its way into the final product, however, consumers can expect great things from iPhone 4.0.
