Every product in the Apple line is notorious for being the greatest in its class. The Apple MacBook Pro is widely accepted as the best notebook computer for a variety of reasons. Likewise, the iMac is renowned for providing consumers with the best in desktop computing while only taking up a fraction of the space as its competitors. And similarly, nothing quite compares to the iPhone in the cellular phone department. The list goes on and on, with iPods comfortably at the top of the list for portable music players and iTouches as the best handheld computer devices. Speculation is now widespread about a new tablet design by Apple that will surely join other Apple devices at the top of the list in this class of technology.
What is the Apple tablet?
While Apple has yet to release information about the so-called tablet, many speculators have gleaned some inside details that lead many to believe that the tablet will change the face of technology forever. The tablet is rumored to have a screen somewhere in the ballpark of 10 to 12 inches. And like the screen on iPhones and iTouches, the new tablet will be a highly intuitive touch screen that provides users with an easy to use on-screen keyboard. However, for those that prefer a regular keyboard, chances are great that a wireless Mac keyboard will be compatible for use with the tablet.
The tablet is believed to be able to provide consumers with the capacity to perform a variety of functions. Similar to a netbook, the tablet will have word processing capabilities, but if it is anything like other Apple products, it will have much higher-end hardware. This should eliminate many of the problems that netbook users experience because the tablet will function and process much like other reputable Apple products such as the MacBook Pro. In addition to word processing, the tablet will have wireless and Bluetooth capacities to surf the Web.
What will people use the tablet for?
The tablet is likely to be the most portable of Apple’s computers. It will be sized between a MacBook and an iPhone so it is easier to carry than a standard notebook, but has a larger screen than a portable phone. This makes it just the right size for browsing the Internet while on the go. Perhaps the biggest complaint about iPhones is that the screen is too small for those who want to use the phone as their primary device for surfing the Internet. The tablet is just large enough to give users access to the Internet without the difficulties sometimes associated with iPhones and other smart phones.
Tablet owners will have ready access to magazine and newspaper subscriptions so they can glean all of their media information from one source. This will eliminate help users to eliminate the hassle of leafing through a host of media sources, and also help to reduce tablet owner’s environmental footprint. In many ways, the tablet could very well condense every information source that an individual needs into one source.
When is the tablet set for release?
Apple has yet to officially set a date for release, but good sources say that the tablet is likely to reach the market sometime in the spring of 2010. Prices are also yet to be released but chances are great that it will be right around the $500 dollar range.
