| Smith College is located
in Northampton, a lively town of 30,000 in the Connecticut River valley
of western Massachusetts.
By car:
Northampton is on Route I-91. Take Exit 18, and follow Route 5 north
into the center of town. Turn left onto Route 9. Go straight through
three sets of traffic lights, turning left into Smith's main entrance
(College Lane) shortly after the third set. The Office of Admission
is on your right, overlooking Paradise Pond. (Campus maps are available
there.) Parking is available next to the office or along Route 9.
By bus:
Peter Pan, Greyhound and Vermont Transit serve the area. Most routes
go to the main bus terminal in Springfield, where you can catch
another bus to Northampton. Buses run almost hourly between Springfield
and Northampton. Smith is a 10-minute walk or a short taxi ride

By train:
Amtrak--(800) 872-7245--serves Springfield, Massachusetts, which
is 20 miles south of Northampton. From the train station, you can
reach Northampton by taxi, rental car or bus. The Springfield bus
station is a short walk from the train station.
By air:
The closest airport is Bradley International. It is served by most
major airlines and is located about 35 miles south of Northampton
near Hartford, Connecticut. Flying into Bradley rather than to Boston's
Logan Airport gives you a shorter drive to Northampton and spares
you city traffic congestion.
Limousines, buses and rental cars are available at the airport.
