In a recent post, we looked at five questions that people commonly have about Mac computers. In a continuation, we will now turn to five more questions that people curious about Macs frequently ask. The answers to these questions make it even clearer that Macs are at the cutting edge of the computer industry. The answers to these questions apply to the full range of Mac computers, including the MacBook, MacBook Pro, Mac Mini and iMac.
1. How do Macs work with Windows networks? One of the great things about Mac computers is that they are highly compatible. The engineers at Apple recognize that not everybody has Apple products, so they designed Mac computers to function right alongside PCs in Windows networks. This is true whether the Windows network is wired or wireless. However, while Macs do work perfectly fine with a Windows network, most Mac owners prefer to network their system with Apple products. Most consumers agree that the Snow Leopard network system is superior to a Windows network on a variety of levels.
2. Can Mac computers run Windows? A lot of people who gained their computer skills on a Windows operating system prefer to stick with what they know. With Microsoft Windows for Macintosh, consumers are able to install Windows directly to their Mac computer. In this fashion, they can enjoy all of the benefits of a Mac, while retaining the familiarity of Microsoft Office. All of the Office applications function perfectly on a Mac, including Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
3. Does Apple offer technical support for Macs? Year after year, consumers agree that Apple’s technical support is by and large the greatest in the industry. The first year of support is free, and support for additional time is available for purchase. Consumers can simply walk into an Apple store and schedule an appointment with an Apple specialist who can walk consumers through virtually any problem that arises. Additionally, phone support is available for those who do not live near an Apple store.
4. Do Mac computers work well with Wi-Fi? Every Mac computer is ready to connect to a Wi-Fi network right out of the box. As soon as a Mac computer is turned on, it scans the area for available Wi-Fi networks and displays a list of each network. Consumers need only select the network of their choice and enter a password if necessary and they are instantly connected to the internet.
5. What is the learning curve like for new Mac owners? Almost without fail, new Mac users agree that Mac computers are intuitive to use. While there are some fundamental differences between Mac computers and other lines of computers, consumers generally find no difficulty learning how to master a Mac. And once an individual begins to understand the functions that make a Mac unique, these functions seem to improve the individual’s experience on the computer tenfold.
While the answers to these questions are indeed informative, nothing can replace actually sitting down and trying a Mac computer personally. An hour on a MacBook is generally all it takes to convince people that Mac computers are the way to go.
