MacBook Turned Desktop

One of the toughest decisions for those looking into a new computer is whether to go for a notebook computer or a desktop computer – or in the parlance of Apple, a MacBook or a Mac. With Apple’s LED Cinema Display, this decision is made much easier, for it makes it possible for MacBook Pro owners to convert their notebook computer into a desktop computer while at home, and still have the portability that notebook computers allow when they need a computer to take on-the-go. So the days of being limited to a small screen are over for MacBook Pro owners, as are the days of being tied to a desk in order to use the big screen. The LED Cinema Display, in other words, provides Apple owners with the best of both worlds.

Apple’s LED Cinema Display provides a 24-inch widescreen view with signature LED backlight technology. MacBook Pro users are already familiar with the clarity and crispness of this LED screen, but the additional inches take the picture to an entirely higher plane. In addition to the size of the LED Cinema Display, it also has 1920-by-1200 resolution that is quite impressive in its own right.

The LED backlighting on the Cinema Display sets this monitor apart from other monitors. It reaches maximum brightness instantly, without taking any time to warm up. Moreover, it is uniformly bright, and gives users full control over the brightness of the screen. Of course, this is the same technology that MacBook Pros utilize, but on a larger scale. Coupled with a MacBook Pro, the LED Cinema Display is the best way to retain visual clarity while expanding the picture.

Apple employs technology known as in-plane switching that makes the LED display retain its brilliance from virtually any angle. Most people are familiar with shoddy displays that lose their quality or clarity when viewed from any angle but for straight on. In-plane switching alleviates this problem, and ensures that viewers have the same brilliant display from whichever seat in the room they happen to have. This is enhanced with the Smooth-motion hinge on the display that allows users to adjust the display’s angle from -5 to 25 degrees.

The LED Cinema Display also has built in iSight, microphone and speakers. This means that those who connect their MacBook Pro to the display can operate iChat even when their MacBook is closed. This is just one more way in which the LED Cinema Display operates to fully convert a notebook computer into a desktop computer. While non-Apple screens may enlarge the picture for MacBook owners, they are simply not as compatible with MacBooks as Apple’s LED Cinema Display.

Connecting the LED Cinema Display to a MacBook could not be simpler. The display comes with a MagSafe connector that powers and charges MacBook Pros. The connector can remain connected to the display so that MacBook owners need not worry about unraveling a cable every time they want to plug in their MacBook to the display. In only a couple of seconds, MacBook owners can have their screen converted to the big display.
