NEWMAC All-Academic Honors Fall 2000 NORTHAMPTON, Mass., Feb. 28, -- Lynn Oberbillig, Athletic Director at Smith and President of the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) announces the Academic All-Conference Team Award winners for the Fall 2000 Season. There were 146 Student Athletes who received this award. NEWMAC consists of 10 Division III Schools located in New England. NEWMAC members are Babson , Clark Univeristy, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Mt Holyoke , Smith , Springfield , USCGA, Wellesley , Wheaton , and WPI. NEWMAC sponsors competition in the following sports: baseball, basketball, crew, cross country, golf, field hockey, lacrosse, soccer, tennis, swimming and diving, softball, track and field, and volleyball. The conference criterion for membership is emphasis on academics, and similarity in athletic philosophy and competition in sponsored sports. The Academic All-Conference Team Award is presented in all of the conference-sponsored sports to all students-athletes who have achieved second year academic status, are a starter or significant reserve, and have a 3.5 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale.
