2004 NEWMAC FIELD HOCKEY ALL-CONFERENCE TEAMS ANNOUNCED

November 9, 2004– Springfield senior midfielder Kim Stevens (Knox , ME) was voted the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Field Hockey Player of the Year by the conference coaches today. Springfield head coach Melissa Rogers was named the coach of the year and Springfield first-year forward Brittany Veazie (Dexter , ME) was named the top rookie as the NEWMAC also announced its 22-member all-conference team.

Stevens, a midfielder was a threat both offensively and defensively for the Pride. She was named both Conference Player of the Week and Co-Player of the Week by the coaches during the season.

Rogers , in her first season at Springfield , won coach of the year honors after leading the Pride to the NEWMAC Championship. Springfield will face The College of New Jersey in a second round match of the NCAA Division III Tournament on Saturday, November 13.

Veazie, who ranks 5 th in the conference in goals scored and 6 th in points tallied, is a strong member of the Springfield offense which leads the conference in scoring average (3.36 gpg).
