FIELD HOCKEY ALL-CONFERENCE TEAMS ANNOUNCED

November 12, 2002 - New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Field Hockey Champion Wellesley College received a pair of post-season awards as senior forward Marret Arfsten (Moorstown, N.J.) was named the conference's player of the year and coach Sue Landau was named the coach of the year. Wheaton freshman goaltender Emily Fiskio (Branford, Conn.) was named the top rookie as the NEWMAC announced its 22 all-conference selections this afternoon.

Arfsten finished first in the NEWMAC with a .84 goals per game average and tied for third in scoring with 39 points (16 goals, 7 assists). She helped the Blue to its first conference championship since 1997 and the school's second appearance in the NCAA Division III Tournament since 1995.

Landau garnered her fifth coach-of-the-year award in the eight-year history of the conference after leading Wellesley to its fifth NEWMAC Championship. The Blue will host Eastern (Pa.) College in the first round of the NCAA Division III Tournament on Wednesday, Nov. 13.

Fiskio was one of the conference's top keepers all season. She finished fourth in the conference with a .870 save percentage and fifth with a 1.40 goals against average for the Lyons.
