MIT Claims NEWMAC Women's Tennis Championship

SOUTH HADLEY, MA -- #1 seed MIT won the 2002 NEWMAC Women's Tennis Championship for the second year in a row as the Engineers defeated Wellesley in the final match, 7-2. This year's championship was held at Mount Holyoke College, October 26-27. MIT finishes their season with an overall record of 11-1, and a NEWMAC record of 8-0.
Last year, MIT won the NEWMAC Tournament, but the conference championship title
was shared between MIT, Babson and Wellesley due to regular-season performance.
This year, MIT stands alone as conference champion, as the tournament is now
the deciding factor for NEWMAC champion honors.
