NEWMAC Women's Tennis All-Conference Team Announced

Wellesley, Mass. - The 2002 NEWMAC women's tennis all-conference team was announced today following a vote of league coaches. With three first team singles selections and two first team doubles selections, MIT, the 2002 regular season and conference champion, is the most represented squad on the ballot. Conference championship runner-up Wellesley College had two second team singles selections and one first-team selection while Babson College was represented by two first team singles selections and a first-team and second-team doubles selection.
MIT's Julie Koo (Pepper Pike, Ohio) earned first-team all-conference honors at no. 1 singles as well as first-team doubles honors with teammate Larissa Egloff (San Pedra, Costa Rica). Egloff was also a first-team selection at no. 4 singles. Wellesley's Kirsi Hakkinen (Cincinatti, Ohio) was named first-team all-conference at no. 2 singles, while Babson's Fran Russo (Westerville, Ohio) and Erin Seu (Honolulu, Hawaii) each earned first-team honors at no. 3 and no. 5 singles. Russo was also named the 2002 NEWMAC Rookie of the Year while Smith head coach Christine Davis earned Coach of the Year honors.
