MIT WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL RECEIVES NCAA AT-LARGE BID
Engineers Make First NCAA Championship Tournament Appearance Since 2002

CAMBRIDGE, MASS. – The MIT women’s volleyball team, ranked fourth in New England, received one of two at-large bids allotted to the region to compete in the NCAA Division III Women’s Volleyball Championship Tournament.

MIT will travel to Colby College for regional play where it will meet up with Bridgewater State College on Thursday, Nov. 11. The Engineers will take the court at 1:00 p.m.

Earlier this season, Tech defeated the Bears, 30-20, 30-24, 22-30, 30-14, in the opening match of the Tufts University Invitational. After taking the first two sets comfortably from Bridgewater State, MIT lost steam in the third frame as it allowed the Bears to pick up a win. Caroline Jordan directed Tech's drive to restore order in the fourth game with two kills, three blocks, six digs, and a 10-point serving run to end the match. Frances Rogoz paced the Engineers with 14 kills and four aces as Jordan and Briana Stephenson also reached double figures in kills, with 13 and 11, respectively. Arlis Reynolds led Tech's defense with 20 digs while Austin Zimmerman and Lindsay Hunting each added 15. Zimmerman dished out 43 assists as Hunting posted four aces.

MIT will be making its 12th trip to the NCAA Championship Tournament. Three years ago, the Engineers swept Johnson and Wales University in the opening round before falling to Gordon College, 3-1.
