SPRINGFIELD
COLLEGE SOFTBALL: KATHY MANGANO WINS HER 400th
From a Springfield College release
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (April 22, 2006) -- Springfield
College Head Softball Coach Kathy Mangano notched victories number
399 and 400 in a doubleheader sweep of MIT in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
In
the process, Kathy became just the 26th coach in Division III history
(among coaches who have spent a minimum of 10 years in that division)
to reach the magic 400 figure. She is now one of just 24 active
coaches in Division III to claim that many victories.
Kathy’s overall won-loss record is 400-336-1. Her overall
winning percentage is .543. She is currently in the midst of her
17th season here at Springfield College.
Mangano thus becomes the 5th coach nationally in Division III to
win her 400th softball game this season. The other four include
Sandra Hollander of Buffalo State, Kris Herman of Williams, Alicia
O’Brien of Western Connecticut State University, and Sam Bedrosian
of Aurora.
Only four other active coaches in New England Division III have
more victories than Mangano. They are Gina Loudenburg of Wheaton
College, Charlie Beach of Keene State, Herman, and O’Brien.
“We
could not be more excited for Kathy,” said Dr. Cathie Schweitzer,
Springfield College’s Director of Athletics. “I believe
you will find that she has attained this figure quicker than most.
Kathy Mangano is a quality head coach.” |
