FULTON NEW WOMEN'S SOCCER COACH
Former Ivy League Star Set to Lead Engineers After Stint With
Framingham State
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Krista Fulton has been tabbed
to lead MIT's women's soccer program, it was announced by DAPER
Department Head/Director of Athletics, Candace Royer. Fulton, who
was a member of two Ivy League championship teams, takes over the
reigns of a growing program after serving one season as head coach
for Framingham State.
Fulton's leadership and experience will immediately
bolster women's soccer at the Institute. In her only season with
the Rams, Fulton guided Framingham State to a tie for the Massachusetts
State College Athletic Conference (MASCAC) regular season crown
and was named the 2004 MASCAC Coach of the Year.
Before beginning her brief tenure in Framingham,
Fulton served at Simmons College, where she helped guide that program
to the 2003 regular season Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC)
Championship. Fulton moved on to Simmons after spending four years
as assistant women's soccer coach for Boston University. Capturing
an America East title and copping an NCAA berth during her stay,
Fulton worked primarily with the goalkeepers.
As a player, Fulton was a key member for Brown University
from 1992-95. Earning All-Ivy recognition her last two seasons,
she helped guide the Bears to the 1992 and 1994 conference titles.
She also won two Ivy League Championships as a member of the women's
basketball team and made multiple trips to the NCAA Division I Championships
in both sports.
For the past seven years, Fulton has been the director
for the No Way In Goalkeeper Academy and has served as a staff coach
for the United States Youth Soccer Association Olympic Development
Program. While at MIT, she will also continue her duties as a head
coach in the Massachusetts Olympic Development Program. |
