| History |
| In 1998-99 the NEW 8 Conference began sponsorship of men's athletics and changed the name to the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC). Wheaton College has dominated conference play, winning the NEWMAC title every year since 1999. The Lyons defeated Springfield College 2-0 in the first tournament final and posted victories over the Coast Guard Academy in both the 2000 and 2001 finals. Wheaton defeated Babson College in the 2002 championship and topped Coast Guard 7-0 in the tournament final in 2003. The Lyons earned the NEWMAC's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament and represented the conference from 2000-2003. 2004 brought a new tournament champion to the NEWMAC, as the Babson Beavers defeated Springfield College in the NEWMAC Championship game to earn the conference's automatic qualifier to the NCAA tournament. |
