| In 1998, the NEW 8 Conference began sponsorship of men's athletic programs under a new name, the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference. The first championship was hosted by Springfield College and was won by U.S. Coast Guard Academy. In 2000, MIT won the NEWMAC Championship, which was hosted by Wheaton College. Coast Guard was crowned the 2001 NEWMAC Champion after winning the championship meet at Springfield College. In 2002, MIT won its second NEWMAC Championship at Wheaton College. MIT hosted the 2003 championship and captured its third NEWMAC title. Coast Guard regained the crown in 2004. |
