History
Since 1998-99 when the NEW 8 conference began sponsoring men's sports and changed the name to the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference, the MIT men's tennis team has dominated conference play. MIT has been undefeated in regular season play five consecutive years, and was crowned the NEWMAC champion each of those years. MIT faced four different conference opponents in the tournament finals but did not give up one match point, defeating Springfield 4-0 in 1999, Wheaton 4-0 in 2000, Babson 4-0 in 2001, Babson 4-0 in 2002, and Coast Guard 4-0 in 2003. In 2004, MIT swept its way to the NEWMAC championship with three straight 4-0 victories, the final over Babson College.
