Ten Billion Downloads for iTunes

On February 25, Apple reached its landmark 10 billionth download on iTunes. That’s right, more than ten billion songs have been purchased from iTunes since its inception. For those that are curious, the ten billionth download was a Johnny Cash song, titled, “Guess Things Happen That Way,” and the customer who downloaded the song won a $10,000 iTunes gift card.

With a sales record that impressive, one would think that Apple’s iTunes has been around since the beginning of time. The truth of the matter is, however, that iTunes has only been around for seven years. And in only seven years time, iTunes has become a common household name that will surely be a mainstay for the foreseeable future.

Apple’s iTunes is now in its 9th version. As with all other versions of iTunes, iTunes 9 is available for free download, and is definitely something everybody wants installed to their computer. Apple’s iTunes is a must have for PC and Mac users alike, as it is hands down the best way to catalog and play music, television shows and movies.
