Adding a custom screen saver
Adding a screen saver is an easy way for Mac owners to put a personal touch on their new computer. Here is how it is done:
1. Click on the Apple menu.
2. Select System Preferences.
3. Click no Desktop & Screen Saver.
4. Click on Screen Saver tab.
5. A column will appear on the left that displays all of the possibilities that come bundled on a new Mac. Users can also select from photos stored in iPhoto, or album art stored in iTunes.
Choosing applications to open automatically upon startup
Consumers can choose to have applications that they use frequently open up automatically every time they start their computer. This is easy to do:
1. Open the System Preferences window.
2. Click on Accounts.
3. Click on Login Items.
4. Click Add.
5. Click on Applications.
6. Select the desired applications and click on Add.
7. The selected applications will now open up every time the MacBook is started up.
Switching between applications quickly
MacBook owners can keep more than one application open and running on their computer at any given time. And more importantly, MacBook owners can switch back and forth between open applications quickly and easily. Here is how:
1. Hold down the Command key and the Tab key simultaneously.
2. A dock will appear in the center of the screen.
3. While still holding down the Command key, press the Tab key to move the highlighter to the desired application.
4. Release the Command and Tab key once the desired application is highlighted.
5. The desired application will appear on the screen, and the other running applications will remain running.
Going to the Home folder
Each registered Mac user has a home folder that stores all of his or her personal data, such as documents, music and photos. Users can quickly go to their Home folder by placing it in the Dock. Here is how to do it:
1. Open the Finder
2. Click on the Macintosh HD icon
3. Open the Users folder
4. Find the desired home folder and drag it into the Dock
5. Release the mouse button
6. The home folder will now remain in the Dock and can be accessed with a simple click of the mouse or touchpad.
