travelTraveling With an Apple MacBook

Every year, Time magazine compiles a list of the years 25 best in a variety of different categories, including travel gadgets. This year, two Apple devices made the top 25 in the travel gadgets category. Both the iPod Touch and the MacBook Pro were determined to be within the top 25, and for very good reasons. Anybody who travels – whether for business or pleasure – surely has much to gain from acquiring one or both of these devices and the reasons are plentiful. Whether for flying to the other side of the globe, or simply commuting by train to work, the iPod Touch and the MacBook Pro will inevitably make those travels more pleasurable. The following discussion centers on what Time magazine found to be so extremely attractive about these two devices.

Traveling with the iPod Touch

Nearly everybody knows that travel games make time pass quicker while traveling. The tradition of travel games dates back to rudimentary activities as rudimentary as tic-tac-toe and has advanced through portable video game devices. Now, however, the iPod Touch provides consumers with the utmost in gaming, without the burden of carrying a large device. The iPod Touch is sleek and slender, and it easily fits inside a pocket. But the small size of the iPod Touch is in no way a reflection of limited capacity.

The iPod Touch comes in two models, an 8 GB and a 32 GB. Time Magazine recommends springing for the 32 GB iPod Touch because, as with all electronic devices, more memory means a better functioning product. Not only does the 32 GB iPod Touch hold more data, but it also processes quicker than the 8 GB model. With the 32 GB iPod Touch, consumers can store up to 30 hours of music or 6 hours of video. This means that while traveling, people never run out of new music to enjoy, and can readily access their favorite movies and television shows. Moreover, the 32 GB iPod Touch has voice control so drivers can command the iPod to change their music selection without ever taking their hands from the wheel. Lastly, with the WiFi connection, consumers can download new music, applications and movies from wherever they are at on the planet.

With all that people rely on their computers for nowadays, it is difficult to travel without the companionship of a notebook computer. Time Magazine finds that of all the notebooks out there, the MacBook Pro is the best choice for travelers. Of the many reasons for which the MacBook is excellent for travelers, the long-lasting battery life is among the most significant. The new MacBook Pro has a battery that lasts up to seven hours, making it possible for travelers to go long distances without ever having to find an outlet.

In addition to an excellent battery life, the MacBook Pro is lightweight and very portable. The MacBook is encased in a sturdy unibody aluminum shell that can withstand the wear and tear that traveling tends to place on things. It can fit neatly inside most any bag and carried over the shoulder with ease. And the best part of this is that none of the functioning capacities one would expect from a notebook are sacrificed for this portability.

Travelers will agree with Time Magazine that the iPod Touch and the MacBook Pro are among the greatest commodities one can have while on the road.
